Meet the men behind Blanchard’s Reman Core team

Caterpillar recently completed their 2015 North American Reman Core Management rankings and we’re proud to share that the Blanchard Reman Core department has again placed in the top five for the 10th year in a row.  In 2015, they placed 4th in North America across a Cat dealer network of 57 dealers.  This is particularly noteworthy as the responsibility for the inspection and management of core returns to Cat falls primarily on two men, Davey Derrick, the Reman Core Manager, and Ken Fleming, the Reman Analyst.

At its most basic, the Core Program is based on an exchange system where a customer can return a used component (core) in return for our remanufactured products. The Reman option is a cost efficient way to provide solutions to customers who choose not to purchase new parts.

But the Core department goes beyond helping customers save money, they also help sustain our environment. By returning end-of-life components to same-as-new condition, the Core department reduces waste and minimizes the need for raw materials, which are necessary in producing new parts. Through remanufacturing by Caterpillar, Blanchard is able to keep nonrenewable resources in circulation for multiple lifetimes.

In addition to the inspection and shipping of cores to Caterpillar, Davey and Ken are responsible for a multitude of areas, including filing core warranties and running a bulk storage facility.

These responsibilities tie into the metrics that Cat measures.  For the 2015 ranking, the Reman Core team had scores well above worldwide averages, including a 99.84% inspection accuracy and 0% average monthly packaging/safety incidents.
